Joining Cassidy Davis Managing Agency Ltd in February 1983, I was specifically tasked to set up Life Syndicate 779 at Lloyd's of London. I grew the business from inception to become the largest and most profitable Life Syndicate at Lloyd's, delivering consistent annual profits until my retirement in 2010.During this period my responsibilities broadened to include other Accident and Health classes of Insurance written within the Group's General Syndicate 582 such as Travel, Personal Accident, Medical Expenses, Payment Protection, Kidnap and Ransom, Legal Expenses and Warranty.In 1996 I was appointed the Active Underwriter of Cassidy Davis General Syndicate 582 with an annual income in excess of £100m managing several underwriting teams.Cassidy Davis was bought by St Paul Insurance Group, the general business became part of Syndicate 5000 trading as their Personal Lines division.In 2005 the business was sold to Jubilee Managing Agency. I continued as Active Underwriter of the newly created General Syndicate 5820.In 2010 I decided to retire to coincide with my 60th birthday.
