https://www.colorado.edu/sciencediscovery/CU Science Discovery is a science education outreach organization in the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Science Discovery collaborates with CU faculty, research groups, institutes, and graduate and undergraduate students to develop hands-on, inquiry-based programs for K-12 students that feature CU research in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields and model best practices in teaching and learning. I collaborate with the Science Discovery Director, Community Programs Manager, CU faculty, and numerous STEM graduate and undergraduate students to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative science education outreach programs that are delivered to K-12 students during out-of-school time. Science Discovery's Informal Science Education programs include a substantial summer class program that offers more than 230 week-long summer science camps annually, as well as after-school and weekend programming. I am also responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting university students working in informal science education programs.

Thornton, Colorado

Launched a computer and hands on International Baccalaureate STEM program that centers on product development using the Engineering Design Cycle. Successfully planned and budgeted for the implementation of 30 high and low technology, inquiry-based STEM units for students. Demonstrated experience in support and management of after school STEM programs with the establishment of a new Technology Student Association. Collaborated with CU Boulder staff to develop a program that uses computer aided design and 3D printers to design and manufacture picture books for blind children. Collaborated with CU Denver Math department to coauthor a National Science Foundation Grant that brings undergraduates into my classroom in order to mentor and motivate students in STEM fields. Wrote and managed an $8,000 grant to obtain 3D printers and digital scanners. Implemented Technology Committee to train teachers and strengthen technology skills.

Castle Rock, Colorado

Developed and delivered engaging, inquiry-based STEM programs for 7th and 8th graders. Managed the collaboration, development and training of both a school website and teacher website template for 8o employees.Trained teachers in the use of Google and iPad applications. Implemented a new Technology Student Association, wrote proposals and was awarded grant and successfully participated in a three day, state STEM competition. Wrote grant for VEX robotics equipment and organized students to compete with local schools.

Taught Computer Integrated Manufacturing, CAD, basic computer programming, animation, graphic design, robotics, CNC mill operation, and foundations of technology to 9 – 12 graders. Maintained a computer-integrated manufacturing production lab and budget. Successfully trained students and staff on the use of Google Apps to create digital portfolios and foster collaboration.Attended several University of Maryland, Baltimore County Engineering teacher trainings as demonstrated in a successful Heart and Lung Machine unit and other STEM connections.
