I enjoy nothing more than trying to solve complex problems and delivering a high-quality well-planned solution.I am an accomplished Production Chemist/Flow Assurance Specialist in the energy sector with over 15 years of experience, focussing on Oil & Gas, LNG onshore & offshore. I have commissioned, started up and operated process plants and laboratories around the world.I have worked on oil & gas rigs, FPSO’s offshore and LNG & gas plants onshore providing technical support and specialist knowledge to operations. I have also planned and executed brown & greenfield major capital projects within the energy sector.I am passionate about the energy industry and energy efficiency and like to see plants and systems run at their optimum performance safely. With the ever-changing energy landscape, I will progress into renewable energy as this develops and hope to use my skills in the burgeoning Hydrogen economy. While working for Chevron I managed the process planning and commissioning of 2 laboratories gaining NATA accreditation and developed a site wide sampling and analysis schedule. As a specialist in Production chemistry and flow assurance I developed a method to deoxygenate MEG, this product is now sold as a specialist product by the chemical vendor. I won 3rd prize in an international process improvement competition, by implementing the use of a defoamer for a gas lift compression system saving multiple shutdowns. During my extensive career in the oil and gas industry I have made economic and process improvements for various companies including saving one company over £500,000 by recalculating MEG injection rates.I have particular expertise and specialise in the following areas:• Flow Assurance• Hydrate Inhibition and MEG systems• Production chemical selection & application• Mercury & Moisture sampling, analysis and interpretation• Gas dehydration systems• Sampling system design and implementation• Laboratory design, planning and commissioning• Online analyser troubleshootingI am a motivated, practical, analytical, flexible professional with excellent technical skills. I also have the ability to learn new skills, adapt to change and to assimilate information to determine an optimum plan. Develop a new design for the site waste water treatment plant.
Production Operations Chemist
Integrated Energy Company Oil, Gas & LNGI developed a method of deoxygenating MEG during ship transport, to meet delivery specifications at delivery location. This allowed Chevron operations to fill the injection lines and start-up sooner with significant time and cost delays avoided.Developed Production Chemistry support structure from conception to implementation. Provided support to the onsite laboratory, developed testing schedules and negotiated technical requirements for production chemical and material specifications. Surveyed sample and chemical injection systems and developed management of change documentation to rectify them. Developed production chemical testing and selection specific to the process systems. Carried out factory acceptance tests (FAT) for online analysers systems and chemical injection systems. Designed and commissioned laboratory processes and equipment from conception to operation. Designed and built site based sampling, chemical injection and online analyser systems.
Offshore Production Operations Chemist
Oil & Gas Support CompanyI developed a plan to use a spare chemical injection setup to solve a foaming problem within the gas lift compressor scrubbers. Implemented within 2 days, time and cost savings to the company were $240,000 per year, I was awarded 3rd prize in an international Apache programme for continuous improvement.Provided chemistry services for offshore FPSO’s, (Nganhurra, Ningaloo Vision).
