Growing up in an entrepreneurial environment has paved my path in business, science, and community involvement. Business and leadership skills were gained early on by learning from my father who started several companies. I established a scientific foundation by earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Microbiology and Medical Technology while minoring in Chemistry. My understanding that the core strength of a local community is volunteerism lead to my involvement with fundraising for charities and service to local hospitals. I learned about my civic responsibilities as a Boy Scout and how volunteering strengthens the community then continued through college by volunteering at local hospitals, regularly donating blood, and most recently giving back to the community by serving on the alumni advisory board for Mesa Community College and the Board of Directors for Aunt Rita's Foundation. Being surrounded by the creative processes to build a company from the ground up spurred my interest in understanding market assessment, business modeling, and technology venture. I focused these skills while working in an extended internship while at the Arizona Technology Enterprises, which works to transfer technologies created at ASU to industry. After finishing my doctoral dissertation, I started a new molecular epidemiology program for the Arizona hospitals within the Banner Health non-profit system. Now I am applying molecular diagnostic technologies to aid clinicians in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring diseases. I focused on business development to improve product/test opportunities and thereby increasing the testing volume 56% while reducing the budget 1%.
Listed skills include Healthcare, Molecular Diagnostics, Public Health, Interdisciplinary Collaboration, and 8 others.
