One of my former bosses told me I had a Midwest work ethic and an East Coast intensity. He was from New Jersey and I hailed from the Great Plains, so I took it as a compliment. That formula helped me build a successful career in journalism, and my toolbox is expansive: I’ve edited award-winning enterprise packages, written stories for the front page, coached writers from rookies to hall-of-famers, shot photos and published videos. I'm currently the sports editor at the Sandusky Register. My office is about a driver and pitching wedge from Lake Erie and I enjoy living in this part of the country. Prior to returning to my newspaper roots, I was a copy editor and writing coach for SECCountry.com and Landof10.com, digital sites that focused on college sports. I work efficiently and error-free, and I bring great people skills to the table. I'm equally comfortable using the AP Stylebook or SEO best practices. And I won’t break out in hives during a F2F conversation. Another former boss once called me a great player-coach. He might have been alluding to my many years mentoring youngsters on the finer points of baseball, but I’ll run with it.
