A Principal of Clayton Korte, I lead our San Antonio office and the firm’s residential, ranch, and vineyard related projects currently in California, Hawaii, Maryland, and Texas. Our firm’s talented architecture and interiors team is dedicated to creating rich places that respond to local context, connect to their environment, highlight craft, and, above all else, celebrate the human experience. Since 2005, our firm has set a high standard for award-winning Texas architecture with offices today in Austin and San Antonio. Though the firm's Texas roots run deep, current work — including hotels, restaurants, wineries, ranches, residential and park projects — spans the country.Over almost three decades of professional practice, I seek to achieve designs that carefully consider the surrounding natural landscape and create livable, authentic, and modern spaces. Currently, I am focused on several wineries and residences along California’s Central Coast and across the Texas Hill Country, where a convergence of distilled design, regional ecology, resiliency, and ingenuity take a step back to let the natural landscape be the star of the show. In the last 10 years, our firm’s talented team has been the recipient of numerous awards for design excellence, including national, regional and local levels. The firm’s growing reputation reflects our continual effort to create holistic environments that integrate architecture, interiors, and landscape. I have had the pleasure to lead many projects that have been recognized by awards or published nationally and internationally. Most recently, Saxum Vineyard Equipment Barn in Paso Robles, California, received an AIA Small Projects Award in 2019 and a Building Integrated Solar Technology Award in 2020, and Hill Country Wine Cave was selected as the Jury Winner in the Hospitality Bars & Wineries category in the 2021 Architizer A+ Awards, among many others. In February 2020, I had the great honor of being elevated to The College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects. I share the honor not only with my family and friends who have been encouraging and inspiring (and tolerant) but also with the greatest group of talented colleagues, patient and visionary clients, and gifted craftspeople that I could ever imagine.
