I provide strategic advice to various program areas in the Alberta Ministry of Health. I also lead or work on special files such as medical assistance in dying, faith-based health care, etc.

My responsibilities include making sure that work at the Alberta Energy Regulator is aligned properly with Government of Alberta policies and that both sides are moving forward smoothly in addressing various energy-related issues and concerns.

I helped provide socio-economic assessments for numerous large and small oil and gas projects brought before the Board by large multi-billion dollar companies. Socio-economic assessments entail a broad range of topics including (but not limited to) land matters, heritage resources, Aboriginal consultation, stakeholder consultation, infrastructure, health matters, traditional land and resource use, and cultural impact. I also managed numerous small projects for the entire duration of those projects from team assembling to the drafting of the final legal orders, letters, and memo for Board approval.My side duties included coaching and the occasional mentoring if needed as well as responsibilities in public engagement and policy development.

I provided instruction to students in the area of housing economics, a 3rd year economics course under the Department of Economics. I also provided support grading papers, holding office hours, and proctoring exams.

I provided information and analysis to the Minister of Natural Resources and other senior executives within the department on energy and resource-related issues. In addition, I assisted the Minister in the area of media and communications.I also conducted research on some of the trends, issues, and concerns facing the energy and natural resource sector. Some of these issues include Keystone XL, oil sands, climate change, resource development (economic and environmental), GHG emissions, and technological growth in the sector. Some of the technical issues I've looked at in the past include conventional and unconventional sources of fossil fuels as well as various types of renewable energy (hydro-dam, pumped-storage, run-of-river, wind, solar-photo-voltaic, solar-thermal, solar-tower, tide, geothermal).

I led two tutorial classes per term on the subject of the global political economy, teaching both political and economic theory. I also taught my students issues regarding globalization and the historical development of what is now the modern, global trade and financial system. In addition, I graded dozens of research papers and was part of the grading committee for the final exam of the courses.

I drafted and have helped draft briefing notes, speaking points, annexes, a deck and policy papers for senior executives, cabinet ministers and the deputy minister. I also developed a new file on private colleges which includes two reports, a deck, and an extensive compilation of resources, data and graphs. In addition, I presented my findings on private colleges to the entire Learning Policy Directorate. Afterwards, I developed a new file on entrepreneurship, compiling and analyzing academic and non-academic resources and developing reports.Throughout the process, I engaged in stakeholder consultations and wrote summary reports on the budget and strategic direction of various provinces. I used Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and numerous statistical and research databases extensively throughout my tasks.

I worked on and edited a major strategy paper for Service Canada, which covered an extensive array of topics. My responsibilities regarding this paper include examining ways in which Service Canada could better reach out to workers who face severe economic and social obstacles ("at-risk groups"). In order to do this, I provided a high level overview of Service Canada's strategic partnerships, strategic frameworks, and change agenda. I also developed extensive demographic, economic, and policy overviews of each regional base of Service Canada so that the organization could better target particular at-risk groups in each region. Finally, I developed individual worker profile reports (self-employed workers, people with disabilities, youth workers, and low-skilled workers) designed to better help the organization target and tailor their approach to various at-risk groups.

As an English teacher, I planned and led classes for children coming from different countries and with greatly varying levels of English ability. I also maintained classroom discipline and fostered a suitable learning environment for students of different backgrounds. I encouraged children to reach their full potential, tailoring the English program to suit the needs of different groups of children.
