My experience includes implementing and improving safety, health and environmental management systems, preventing safety related incidents, and ensuring environmental compliance at the corporate and site level. I’ve developed “up- stream” approaches to safety improvement using total quality improvement processes, such as developing management systems, compliance assurance and performance indexing. I’ve worked closely with management and labor to develop, execute and monitor safety and health projects and programs. In doing so, I’ve actively sought and promoted management and labor’s involvement and participation. I’ve been responsible for building relationships between the safety department and with our internal customers by establishing and working in a collaborative environment. My supervisory experience includes more than 10 years of managing and overseeing EH&S professionals. I also have experience with various international regulatory agencies, including Canadian, Mexican and European. I’ve developed and conducted training programs to meet the requirements of government regulations, corporate policies and location needs, provided expert review of EH&S legislation to assist in determining how to comply with all the policies, procedures and guidelines and established statistical tracking to assist in project development. My professional training has included extensive training in safety, workers compensation, health and environmental topics, with considerable experience with OSHA, DOT, NFPA, FDA, NEC, IFC and EPA standards. Included in my professional background is considerable experience with ISO, Lean, Juran, and Six Sigma elements. This experience includes working with OSHAS 18000 and ISO 14001management systems and achieving certification as an ISO 14001 auditor. I’ve also implemented the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program and facilitated the application process.
