I have been a police officer in the Halifax Metro area since May 1983. In that time period I have worked patrol for 10 years & Traffic Division for 4 years in Dartmouth. Community & School Liaison officer for 6 years in Halifax & Dartmouth. Presently I am assigned to the Traffic unit as a Collision Reconstructionist & have been here since May 2007. In my duties I have worked with community groups to solve a variety of different problems in neighborhoods such as traffic, noise & security problems. I have attended public meetings & given talks as requested on specific problems for the area. As a School Liaison officer I would give talks to the students on a daily basis on specific subjets. I would also work with the schools on problems around the school as after hours security & student behaviour. I have had conducted mediations between students which would also involve their families. I have a background in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Designed & completed many audits on large buildings, schools & malls as requested. These audits have been accepted & many recommendations put in place. As a Traffic Reconstructionist I have worked on & been in charge of numerous fatality & major collision in the Halifax Region. On a day to day basis I work on many Hit & Run files & minor collision files which would total about 2 thousand yearly.
