• Good Knowledge of the practices used and the equipments used in Activated Sludge, Trickling Filters, RBC’s, FAST, MBR's and SBR’s waste water treatment Plants: working knowledge of the principle of physics, chemistry, and bacteriology as applied to water and wastewater.• Skill in repair, startup, operation, evaluations and upgrades of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and their controls systems • Skill in repair, startup, operation, evaluations and upgrades of centrifugal and positive displacement blowers, aeration systems & controls systems• Skill in repair, startup, operation, evaluations and upgrades of chemical feed systems and their different control schemes; including gas, liquid, polymer and dry feed systems• Knowledge and experience with SCADA systems• Good overall knowledge and experience with all aspects of water treatment, wastewater treatment and collection systems• Skill in flow meter and instrumentation installation, setup and calibration• Trainer experience for operator training in association with NYDEC, NY Rural Water, NYWEF, AWWA and Factory Start-ups • Experienced with MS Word, Excel and Poweroint

Job SummaryResponsible for operating waste treatment plants. Operates machinery that converts wastewater in drains and sewers into a form that's safe to release into the environment.Primary responsibilitiesControl equipment and monitor processes that remove or destroy harmful materials, chemicals, and microorganisms from wastewater.Run tests to make sure that the processes are working correctly.Keep records of water quality and other indicators.Operate and maintain the pumps and motors that move water and wastewater through filtration systems.Monitor the indicators at their plants and make adjustments as necessary.Read meters and gauges to make sure that plant equipment is working properly.Take samples and run tests to determine the quality of the water being produced.Adjust the amount of chemicals, such as chlorine and fluorine, being added to the water.Use computerized systems to monitor plant processes.Plan emergency reaction protocols.Fix chemical leaks and oxygen deficiencies.Keep records that document compliance.
