Auto Racing Announcer

Current
Brian Lohnes Enterprises

United States

Starting as a college student in the late 1990s, I began announcing auto races around the New England region. My first work was with SCCA sports car racing at venues like New Hampshire International Speedway and Lime Rock, Connecticut. Sports car racing provided a training ground and prelude to what my actual ambition was, which was working in the world of drag racing. In 2000 I began announcing at Lebanon Valley Dragway then under the direction of Glenn Grow. Concurrently I began working at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. Through college I balanced time between the drag strips and the SCCA. After graduation I spent the majority of my time at New England Dragway (with respect to announcing) and soon gained a reputation among traveling series that visited the track as a competent announcer. This earned me traveling with with the Super Chevy Series first and ultimately with the IHRA (International Hot Rod Association) where I worked on their national event staff for more than half a decade. During this time I was also working at match races and other regional events, all while continuing to work full time at the more traditional jobs listed here in my profile. My announcing career continued to grow to the point of larger and larger opportunities until I was invited to and accepted an offer to join the NHRA national event announcing staff in 2013. Today I continue to announce many drag races along with the complete NHRA tour.

Current
Ten Studios, Masters Entertainment, Facebook Watch, Fox Sports

United States

For more than half a decade I have worked as a host on various television and video projects. These have included (and continue to include) projects in the traditional television space as well as internet videos. Current Projects:Host/Executive Producer of Put Up or Shut Up on MotorTrendonDemand.com - This innovative racing show aims to spotlight and educate viewers about under covered and under appreciated forms of motorsports while entertaining them with fun story lines built around the machines and/or people competing. From drag racing pulling tractors to showcasing tomorrow's road racing stars in go-karts, to grudge drag racing, and more, the show has been shot from coast to coast and has brought attention to many small tracks and great forms of racing that normally do not get proper coverage. Co-Host of MotorHead Garage on The MotorTrend Channel - Since 2016 I have been the co-host of the Sunday morning program known as MotorHead Garage. This show is a mechanical showcase of interesting and innovative new products, light how-to projects, and interesting automotive technology for the gearhead world. It is a 26-episode series that is shot both on location and in a Tennessee based studio. Co-Host $3,000 Hooptie Challenge on Facebook Watch - I, along with David Freiburger host this fun series that is based around the premise of drag racing cars worth $3,000 or less as judged by us. The competition highlights the fact that motorsports competition is available to young people who may not have the budget as older, more established folks. The 6 episode series highlighted how much absurd fun can be had on a small budget. Host - JE Pistons Masters of Motors: This innovative program recognized the best engines that were displayed at the SEMA and PRI shows. Two episodes were made and I served as the central host and judge along with a panel of industry an engine building experts. This programming aired on Facebook, Youtube and other social media platforms.
