More than 20 years' experience as a Department of Justice attorney and environmental law practitioner representing federal agencies in complex civil discovery cases, bench trials, and petitions for judicial review of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Skilled in legal writing, oral advocacy, litigation management and strategy, legal risk evaluation, negotiation and mediation. Recent accomplishments include leading the legal defense team for litigation and mediation of CERCLA and other environmental claims against EPA and the United States arising from the 2015 Gold King Mine spill; and coordinating the defense of multiple lawsuits relating to the longest ongoing oil spill in U.S. history, until the United States reached a consent decree settling its enforcement complaint and resolving all litigation.

My current duties emphasize case-related team leadership in especially complex cases and those involving pre-trial preparation and trial, as well as mentoring less experienced team members.

Circuit sitting en banc to defend the technical merits of the Clean Power Plan regulation. I also have had extensive experience with complex civil discovery matters including multidistrict litigation, trials and mediation.
