Energy Management Systems TeamAs part of the EMS Team here at PPL, we are tasked with supporting many applications. Some are very large and others are quite small. My primary role on this team is to support the Generation Management System (GMS). This is a real-time system with tentacles reaching out to each of PPL’s generation plants and beyond. There are many upstream and downstream systems that I must also be able to support with regards to GMS.Our most recent large team project is upgrading GMS. This is a large system that involves approximately 120 servers as well as many other user workstations and pieces of supporting hardware. During this upgrade we converted many of our older PPL customs from FORTRAN to C. This was a large effort supported by the entire team. Another major aspect of this upgrade is converting our data modeling tool from a proprietary application to a more mainstream application utilizing Java and Eclipse modeling technologies that interface with an Oracle database. This has been my main role during this upgrade. I have attended a few training seminars for this role, but it has been mostly a “learn as you go” effort.Technologies Utilized: C#, VB.Net, PowerShell Scripting, Oracle, SQL Server, SCADAResponsibilities Include:• Primary customer point of contact• Release coordinator• .Net Subject Matter Expert• Change Control Subject Matter Expert• Mentor to lesser experienced team members• Designing, coding, testing, and implementing many modifications to our existing applications• Build small programs that support/automate many of our existing activities• Debugging issues and finding acceptable solutions to these issues• Designing, coding and testing many complex T-SQL and PL-SQL database objects

ISD Financial Management - TreasuryI was asked to perform two main roles here at PPL: maintain multiple systems and design/build a new system. The systems I supported included: GTM, CashBudget, DOA, SOSS, and TRECS.The majority of my time was spent rewriting a mainframe application in support of a mainframe decommissioning effort. That application, Investor Services, has been redesigned and rewritten using VB.Net. All budget and timeline goals were either exceeded or met in association with this project.Another effort I was concurrently involved in was the ICS project. I was asked to develop a web service for them that interacts with the DOA application and also to build an automated testing application for them. This testing application was written in C# and allows them to quickly and repeatedly rebuild their database, create test data and execute all database objects.Technologies Utilized: VB.Net, C#, Java, Oracle Forms, PL-SQL, XML, Windows ScriptingResponsibilities Included:• Primary point of contact for three financial applications• Ensure current customers are getting the support necessary for them to efficiently and effectively perform their job• Designing, coding, testing, and implementing the Investor Services application• Debugging issues and finding acceptable solutions to these issues• Designing, coding, testing, and implementing many modifications to existing applications with regards to support activities• Coding, testing and implementing an automated testing application• Designing, coding and testing many complex T-SQL and PL-SQL database objects
