- As part of the Marvell sales team in Europe, I acted as program manager for different European customers including set top box manufacturers, telecom operators and television manufacturers offering an Android solution based on Marvell Armada HD Media processors, WiFi, BT, PMIC, …- Meet with customers to negotiate the requirements, schedule and manage customer’s expectations.- Align internal planning across different business units and customer planning to meet the project schedule.- Extensive travel and cooperation with the different development teams of Marvell in Shanghai, Bangalore, Pune and Santa Clara.- Guide customer through the different certification processes (Wifi, HDMI, USB, …) and daily follow up of issues with the different business units. - Internal escalation if the planning slips or if customer issues are not addressed quickly enough.

- Project leader and technical lead of the Blu-Ray servo team within Marvell (16 people). The team was partly based in Japan and partly in The Netherlands. - Software architect of the read and channel modules within the Marvell Optical group. Working with servo, channel and logical teams to implement a comprehensive read recovery mechanism on system level.- Worked closely with the SoC development team in the US to bring up and validate new features and propose changes / improvements for future SoC revisions.- Added Blu-Ray functionality to a CD/DVD software stack that was still under development. At the same time validated the Blu-Ray functionality at FPGA level. Later brought up the Blu-Ray functionality on Marvell’s SoC.- Introduced a generic messaging system and way to implement state behavior in the new modules, while keeping the existing firmware stack functional. Later this mechanism was further enhanced and step by step introduced throughout the system.The redesign and modularization of the system greatly reduced the time needed to bring up a new SoC or to design in a new OPU (Optical pickup unit).- As customer champion guided different projects through customer qualification.

- Designed and implemented various modules & algorithms in the BD recorder engine.- Supported system engineers and general debugging / problem solving of new drive designs.- Design-in support for BenQ (Taiwan) and Philips CE (Singapore) during qualification (Flexstar, 4 corner, RDT) with end customer (Dell, HP, … ).- Managed a small team that assisted with the design in of DVD entertainment system of Philips APM in Wetzlar for Johnson Controls. The end customer was Mercedes and GM.

Singapore

- Provided training and knowledge transfer to the development team of Philips Singapore for the Philips DVD AV recorder.- Debugging and problem solving during qualification of the drive with various back ends.- Gave technical input for the requirements specification of their future products.

Eindhoven Area, Netherlands

- Headed the team that was responsible to adapt the 1st generation of Philips DVD-R(W) recorders for PC’s, so they could be used in the Philips DVD AV recorders.- Negotiated with the client to establish ATAPI interface extensions to enable real-time video recording on a standard IDE DVD recorder.- Setup the procedures for configuration management and wrote the configuration management plan.

Liège Area, Belgium

- Worked on the design, and implementation of the servo and channel subsystem for a new DVD/CD-R(W) recorder.- Provided technical guidance to junior team members.- Redesigned the whole recording part of the firmware and making 32x recording possible on hardware that was only spec-ed till 24x and got the product qualified by Apple, HP, Sony, …- Worked on redesign on audio engine for CD-RW audio recorder. Decomposition of the different modules in the system and wrote the Top Level Design. The redesigned audio engine was awarded “Best Design” by our customer (another department within Philips).Provided training and knowledge transfer to the development team of our client in Singapore.
