In this role, I manage the fire departments emergency response and non-emergency activities, including budgets, capital projects, and financial processes. I work with the leadership team implementing effective strategies. I lead the change management efforts for the department. I also collaborate with the Fire Chief to select and recruit high-performing staff based on competency levels.➥ Addressed gaps in fleet repairs, deliverables, and medical supplies by realizing an inventory tracking system for Smyrna Fire Departments.➥ Led the successful implementation of two new data management software programs into the department with a value of $65K.➥ Optimized quality control measures on all incident entries through the utilization of analytical data from STATFD.➥ Improved rating for ISO Class 2 by performing insurance service office evaluation within the first six months of appointment.➥ Enhanced customer service and department morale by devising and presenting an engaging supervisor’s field guide using employee appraisals, feedback discussions, and self-assessments.➥ Facilitated officer development and retention by planning and developing a program, “Succeeding as a Supervisor.”➥ Supported with the planning and oversight of a new $4M SPLOST project, “Fire Station Replacement,” and two fire station renovations with a value of $120K.➥ Defined key performance indicators to ensure alignment with relevant measures.➥ Led the strategic planning committee for the department’s 2021-2023 plan.

Coordinates emergency management functions in the absence of the Emergency Management Director as well as assists in coordinating emergency management activities between county, state and federal departments and agencies. Responds as required in the event of an emergency incident.➥ Established a Covid-19 task force to develop response services aligned with regulations to ensure compliance with CDC guidelines.➥ Assisted in the design of the city’s first emergency operations center (EOC).➥ Led the operation and established a workgroup for mass notification through Civic Ready platform for citizens and internal communications.➥ Managed and implemented a process for city-wide Covid-19 testing.

The Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs is the largest Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs representing more than 2,000 members in 10 states, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands.Our MISSION is to provide leadership to current and future career, volunteer, fire-rescue and EMS chiefs, chief fire officers, company officers and managers of emergency service organizations throughout the international community through vision, information, education, services and representation to enhance their professionalism and capabilities.

GAFC is governed by an elected Board comprised of President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Sergeant-at-Arms, Secretary, Treasurer, Immediate Past President, eight District Vice-Presidents and an appointed Parliamentarian and Chaplain.  GAFC contracts with the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) for associational management and our headquarters is located at the GMA offices in Atlanta.  Currently GAFC represents over 700 chief fire officers in Georgia.
