Brian Markham, PE, leads the Arup office in Seattle. A practiced structural engineer, Brian joined Arup in 2000 and spent his first 17 years based in Arup's New York, UK, and Abu Dhabi offices, delivering on ambitious plans for world-class clients both locally and globally. Since 2017, he has a growing portfolio of successful Seattle projects, and continues with global projects and clients.Over his career at Arup, Brian has articulated efficient, elegant structural designs for geometrically complex buildings, with several of his projects garnering national and international architectural and structural awards. He has been a part of the successful project teams for the Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore; the Abu Dhabi International Airport; the Pérez Art Museum Miami; the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Missouri; the Tippet Rise Art Center in Fishtail, Montana; the Tianjin Juilliard School in Tianjin, China, and the Space Needle Century Project renovation (among many others). He enjoys both clean design and the partnerships that are formed around the collaboration.
