The AHL club enters its fourth season of operation in Des Moines in October of 2016. The Wild proudly works to provide the state of Iowa with an affordable, exciting and family-oriented entertainment option. The team’s secondary focus is strengthening the community, while developing the sport of hockey in Iowa. The Wild’s vision is to develop, connect, and entertain a loyal fan base and valued business partners in central Iowa. Since its inception, the team has welcomed over 225,000 fans in each of the first three seasons of operation – just under an average of 6,000 fans per game at Wells Fargo Arena. Since day one of operation, the Wild has made a tremendous commitment to its community. Over the course of the AHL team’s three-year existence in Des Moines, the Iowa Wild has partnered with countless local businesses to help raise nearly $500,000 for local non-profits. The organization (players, staff and mascot) makes over 200 appearances annually. The biggest fundraisers were aided by the team’s strong partnerships with the ALS Association - Iowa Chapter, Susan G. Komen of Iowa and the American Heart Association. In addition, nearly 26,000 students participated in the Wild About Reading program in 2015-16. The Healthy Living Floor Hockey Program included 52,000 students in 120 schools throughout Central Iowa. The Iowa Wild has been recognized by the AHL as a model franchise with multiple awards for front office performance. In the summer of 2016, the team was named the AHL’s Sponsorship Sales Department of the Year. Despite Des Moines standing as one of the smaller markets in the AHL, the Wild ranked among the best in overall growth, new and creative sponsorship ideas, as well as client retention. In the summer of 2015, Iowa was honored by the AHL for the Western Conference’s Best Fan Experience Award for 2014-15. -
