Employed initially as a Site Engineer, on an Oil Field based project in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq. The project was is to build a high spec camp with a 10 year+ lifecycle, for a major player in the Oil Industry. This camp is also being used as a “benchmark” camp by the Kurdistan government for future developments. Major duties & responsibilities include • All site setting out, from inception of project, for the camp buildings, including 2 no steel frame structures, utilities & roads• Daily & weekly reports to client & senior management, alongside Journey management requests and Person on board for camp security• Programming of works alongside project manager• Liaising with designer/ resident engineer over design changes/ improvements• Pricing & ordering of labour/ materials/plant, including cash handling for deliveries• Strict record keeping including site diary, receipt log & timesheets for workforce• Co-ordination of multinational on-site workforce

Employed as the work programmer to oversee & co-ordinate the delivery of the company Civil work for British Telecom (BT), which encompassed 2/3rds of Northern Ireland including Belfast and Derry, with contract worth in excess of £2million per year. Main duties and responsibilities included;• Taking each work order, programming into work schedule, allocating resource- labour/plant/materials, liaising with client/ general public on timing of works, access, complaints etc, • Measuring up of work after completion, drawing up work completed on Visio, pricing each individual element of works putting packs together for billing of works• Normally co-ordinated up to 6 gangs of operatives/machinery and in average week average of 40-50 work orders ranging from 2 hour worth of work to major stretches including 3-4 miles of trenching & ducting,• Rigorous record keeping through a number of databases• Co-ordination of Companies floating grab lorries- including collating of scrap materials and COSSH materials• Coordinator of minor NIE project for Pole replacement civils works

Employed within a 4 man team to manage the reconstruction of the Marche En Fer in Port Au Prince, Haiti in the aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake. The Marche En Fer was a working national monument in the commercial centre of Port au Prince which was destroyed, like much of the rest of the country by the Earthquake in 2010. The project was funded privately by Digicel Owner Denis O’Brien. Working under extreme conditions and under a very tight deadline, we delivered the meet the key deadlines, including having the market in working condition for an official opening by Bill Clinton on the 1st anniversary of the earthquake. Key duties and responsibilities included • Co-ordination of all sub contractors on site• “Take off” for materials• Sole site supervisor during Night shift phase• Minor pricing ordering of materials/ machinery• Liaising with Architects on design issues• Working closely with Market management on Logistic issues• Daily/ Nightly report on all site activities for attention of Digicel CEO

During this period I worked in a variety of roles including Site Engineer, Section Engineer, Site Foreman & Site Manager, both in Northern Ireland & Scotland for some of Northern Ireland & UK most established companies, such as Laing O’Rourke, Hardcourt Construction & Mascott and for smaller family owned construction companies, on a freelance/contract basis ranging from 4 months to 9 month, on major project such as Project Omega, the Titanic Quarter redevelopment to other smaller projects including the development of the South Stand at Clintonville FC, Construction of Shaw’s Bridge Boathouse & DARD FMS scheme. Employed as a student site engineer during my degree in Construction Engineering and Management. Building of a new Waste Water Treatment plant at Carrickfergus.
