Responsible for directing the on-shift security force for day to day activities to include: Assuring the required posts are properly manned and adequate staffing is maintained. .Interact with plant department heads to assure security support is performed in a timely manner. Authorize protected area access for employees and vehicles. Ensure all security equipment is tested when required and any degraded equipment is reported. Evaluate officers through the BOP process and verify officers are qualified for shift by checking qualifications. Direct security force members during contingency situations or during abnormal conditions.

Responsibilities and duties as an armed nuclear security officer include: Processing of all individuals into the protected and vital areas by verifying identity and authorization. Conducting personnel and vehicle searches for entrance requirements into the protected area. Conduct patrols and respond to intrusion alarms as directed by security supervision. Perform as an armed escort for personnel and vehicles as required by the security plan.
