Health and fitness industries are undergoing huge growth due to advancements in technology, supplements, and access to niche educational information. This presents both opportunities (performance boosts, injury recovery and better data) and challenges (misinformation and potential for health risks).My interest in the area of fitness and health was honed during my undergraduate degree in Sports Science & Health at the Technological University Dublin. I worked across a range of projects where we practically applied the scientific theories within sports science – examining how physiology, psychology, nutrition, anatomy and biomechanics is involved in human performance. During this undergraduate, I worked with ExWell Medical, a rehabilitation scheme for chronic illnesses. I am currently testing athletes and general population performance, cardiovascular, and metabolic rates at Vida Care, a company involved in improving the health, fitness and wellness sector in Ireland. For over a decade I have been playing in a team environment across a number of football teams. More recently I have moved into a coaching and management role at Park Celtic FC.
