Currently there are approximately 500 students in the MMET Department, enrolled in 3 ABET-accredited undergraduate programs and one MS program. My current research includes working on an NSF-funded project for Aerospace Manufacturing Education with partners El Camino Community, Purdue University, and Butler County Community College. I am also a co-PI on a small funded project to develop computer models of several different hybrid vehicles.I am also the Oregon Tech University Representative to the Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP); and the Faculty Advisor to the student section of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The SAE club competes in the world-wide Formula SAE competitions (FSAE) and the world-wide Baja SAE (BSAE) competitions. Here is a picture of myself (right), Oregon Tech FSAE team captain Kai Anderson (left), and the legendary Jim Hall in front of the Oregon Tech FSAE car at the 2013 FSAE Lincoln event. Overall we finished 16 at the event; the low score mostly due to a blown engine right before the first events. We did finish 4th in the Autocross event, 7th in the Endurance Event, and 7th in Design.
