Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the industry-driven WIN-IPT initiative is a €1.8 million network to assist/develop the Solar Energy Sector in Ireland and WalesThe role involves the financial and administrative management of WIN-IPT, and the strategic development of solar technologies in both Ireland and Wales. Key responsibilities include:• Management of project tasks and staff• Management of financial audits and preparation of interim reports• Management of project procurement and publicity activities• Chairing of Network meetings• Liaising with local authority and industry representatives• Supporting R&D activities within the Network• Organising and hosting Network eventsNetwork Website - www.winipt.eu

Responsibilities• Management of the EIRC in collaboration with principal investigators• Development of R&D collaborations, within WIT, nationally, and internationally• Sourcing of funding, both national and international, for the research centre• Consolidation of ‘Green’ research within WIT and development of research infrastructure• To work closely with the internal research team to assist in the strategic development of the EIRC• To lead/manage key projects within the EIRC• To contribute to postgraduate and postdoctoral training and supervision as requiredAchievements• Involved directly in attracting over €7,400,000 of research funding• Development of critical new research infrastructure at WIT. I wrote and submitted a successful application for HEA funding under the 2008 Research Facilities Enhancement Scheme (RFES) for laboratory infrastructure upgrading and new analytical equipment (€2,035,000)• Successfully amalgamated 4 research units (Marine, Agriculture, Forestry and Ecology) into one cohesive environmental research centre, increasing the institution’s effectiveness in attracting research funding• Development of partnerships with key national and international stakeholders
