That’s why when I joined Business School, I immediately knew I wanted to actively pursue marketing; the only function that would allow me to inherently connect with my creative self, connect to an audience and inspire my audience to act, all within a business context. Exciting! Fast forward to 3 years post-grad, I have managed to garner immense experience in brand management, more so within the consumer goods industry. I have had the pleasure of managing renowned international brands, driving double digit growth in both value and volume terms. Additionally, I have supported these brands within spheres of digital marketing, strategy, innovation, product, and pricing strategy, as well as 360° campaign support. During this time, the words of Simon Sinek have been a guiding factor to bring all this to life. Granted, I still consider myself a work in progress, in my pursuit of thought leadership in Marketing. Brands Assistant (Trainee - Morning Fresh)Pz Cussons Feb 2022 - Jun 2023Nairobi, KenyaFor more than twenty (20) years, Morning Fresh has dominated the dishwash segment in the Homecare category in Kenya, by staying true to providing products that make cleaning a breeze. Currently playing in the dish-care & surface-care segments through its dishwashing paste, liquid & scouring powder offerings. Responsibilities & Achievements- Led & co-ordinated Below-The-Line (BTL) activations, promoting double the run-rate in activated stores countrywide. Average strike rate of 80% on set targets and average customer engagement rate of 120%.- Led & co-ordinated Nanny Training sessions to sensitise nannies on proper dishwashing, kitchen safety & hygiene. Average engagement rate of 90%, average reach of 82% of set targets. - Managed the Surface Care segment to ensure growth in Net Invoice Value (NIV), Market Share and Margins. The segment closed at 26% above previous financial year, as of May 2023.- Assisted the Brand Manager to bring to life, the first ever National Consumer Promotion (NCP) for a Homecare brand in Kenya. The promotion closed in December 2022, yielding a 31% sales uplift, while also generating a 14% Return on Investment (ROI).- Jointly crafted an Integrated Brand Plan (IBP) with the Brand Manager for the 2022/2023 fiscal year. Through its brand Cussons Baby, the company offers a wide range of baby skincare products to consumers both locally & in the region.Responsibilities - Supporting the delivery of Cussons Baby growth through assigned marketing & trade activation tasks to aid in the achievement of brand NIV targets set by the company. - Monitoring & tracking of the Hospital Activation programme while offering office logistical support to the in-house nurse to ensure 800 mothers were sampled month on month. - Supporting the brand manager in the launch of New Product Developments through specific assigned tasks.- Carrying out data analysis on category sell-out data as well as price movements, all in a bid to generate insights for the brand. Achievements - Spearheaded the growth of the Hospital Activation Programme by enlisting five (5) Class-A Hospitals to collaborate with the in-house nurse to provide baby care sensitisation to mothers in the wards.- Supported the Brand Manager in leading the release of our new baby soap variants & wipes 80's pack to the market by facilitating the correct listing of the products across all sales channels.- Provided leadership and guidance to the Cussons Baby nurse to ensure we converted an average of 800 mothers monthly through the Hospital Programme. This was done by ensuring every mum received a sample pack of Cussons Baby products.- Co-ordinated all brand activation & ensured physical brand presence in these sites, while also providing all necessary back-end support when required. -
Sales, Marketing And Social Media InternTunu App Feb 2021 - May 2021Nairobi, KenyaTunu is an innovative platform that seeks to revolutionise online retail through gamification. Users play the games contained in the app, earn animals, then redeem these animals to obtain discount coupons from various retail outlets. My responsibilities included:- Generating new business leads for the organisation through active prospecting & ultimately, signing up these leads onto the platform. I was able to increase the coupon count on the app by 6,000, whose total worth amounted to Ksh. 180,000. - Managing the relationship between the organisation & its clients by periodically evaluating client offers for subsequent updating on the app, as well as aligning all new offers with client's marketing campaigns. - Actively participating in the formulation of social media strategy for the company. When implemented, the strategy led to a 15% increase in following, reach and engagement across the organisation's Facebook & Instagram pages,- Handled administrative duties for the sales function of the company. These included maintaining sales records, frequently updating the coupon database, and archiving comapny documentation.
