My responsibilities also include public records and public information, state and local Board policy adherence, and any other task as assigned by the Superintendent.

As executive director my areas of responsibility include human resources, public information, appeal hearings, operations oversight, facilities usage, state and local Board policy adherence, and other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent. Our school system's 1100 employees and 14 schools serve 6000 students and their families.McDowell County is a beautiful part of the world, located along the I-40 corridor west of Morganton and east of Asheville in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. There are some breathtaking views of Mount Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi) and other ridge lines to the north and west. We also enjoy the natural beauty of Lake James and Lake Tahoma in McDowell, and Lake Lure to the south in Rutherford County.

As a drilling reservist (Lieutenant Colonel), commanded the former 6th Motor Transport Battalion. The unit was a 4th MLG reserve BN with 1000 Marines & Sailors. We had forces deployed to Iraq throughout this period. The command included seven sites: Red Bank, New Jersey; Providence, Rhode Island; Orlando, Florida; Lubbock, Texas; Texarkana, Texas; New Haven, Connecticut; and Las Vegas, Nevada.The Battalion was named the National Defense Transportation Association "Reserve Unit of the Year" for 2004, 2005, and 2006. The unit was re-designated as Combat Logistics Battalion - 25 (CLB-25) in 2012.

As a mobilized reserve (Lieutenant Colonel), served as the Officer in Charge of the II MEF Logistics Movement Control Center (LMCC). We were responsible for the movement control and coordination for surface and air deployments and redeployments of personnel and equipment for all II MEF forces in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
