Brian O'Neill has worked for many years in senior management roles in Government and Non-government organisations as well as continuing to work as a psychologist and supervisor. For the last few years he has worked in private practice and has established a thriving practice on the Sunshine Coast while also seeing people for counselling in other States via tele-health. He works with individuals and couples with issues of depression, anxiety and trauma as well as offering services for Employee Assistance Programs, Work Cover and Veterans Affairs. He established a network of Mental Health Community Rehabilitation services during the Richmond era; worked as a Health Service Director; was Head of the NSW State Drug Treatment Unit during the Drug Summit; Deputy State Director of Veterans Affairs counselling and more recently worked as a Senior Manager for Relationship Australia. He has published on field theory, relationship therapy and edited the text with Dan Bloom of the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy. He has collaborated with his wife Jenny in writing on gestalt couples therapy and they have been training and supervising therapists for many years both in Australia and internationally. He established the headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program for Queensland in 2015 and in 1996 he was awarded the Australia and New Zealand Gold Medal for Mental Health Achievement by the Governor General, Sir William Deane.
