The Reservoirs Act 1975 provides the legal framework to ensure the safety of UK reservoirs that hold at least 25,000 cu m of water above natural ground level. Approximately 2,500 reservoirs are covered by the Act: some 80% of these are formed by embankment dams with the remainder being concrete or masonry dams or service reservoirs. The Environment Agency is the Reservoir Enforcement Authority for England and is responsible for ensuring that Reservoir Undertakers observe and comply with the requirements of the Act. I lead a team of enforcement professionals who carry out compliance monitoring and enforcement in our role as regulatory authority for England.

Assignment to the Environment Agency's national capital programme management service (ncpms) in Wales, UK. I led a business support team of six commercial, quality and programme management professionals plus a regional CDM-Coordinator.I undertook quality assurance of project team outputs to ensure best practice and compliance with quality systems.I took responsibility for production of the quarterly regional service plan and development of the ncpms regional capital programme for Wales.I acted as commercial advisor to the regional project teams and operated as the key supplier liaison for ncpms Wales. I identified best practice within the region and recorded lessons learnt for dissemination to the national service.I undertook review and assessment of supplier proposals and tenders to ensure consistent and rigorous application of quality/price criteria in selecting preferred contractors.
