The Senior Economic Development Specialist assists in developing and implementing business attraction and small business development programs that helps provide a sustainable community with a diversified industry base. Assists the Economic Development Director in implementing the Commerce City Economic Development work plan and maintains strong working relationships with existing businesses; prospective businesses; real estate professionals; other government agencies; and local, regional, and state economic development organizations.

As Director of Economic Development, Brian supervised the District's internal operations and business services in addition to overseeing its research efforts including special projects and data analysis. Brian led outreach efforts to 200+ area property owners, oversaw the area's parking and mobility program, and executed the BID's retail retention and recruitment efforts Brian came to the Cherry Creek North BID from the Downtown Denver Partnership, bringing 10+ years of retail strategy and economic development experience. During that time, Brian was instrumental in securing first-to-market retailers in Colorado, including H&M, Uniqlo and Kit & Ace. Brian managed efforts aimed at development of key residential amenities in Downtown Denver, including the establishment of Downtown's first elementary school and the first Downtown locations for Whole Foods and King Soopers. Brian has more than 15-years of experience in housing development advocacy and implementation, starting with his work at the Colorado Housing & Finance Authority (CHFA) as an Asset Management Officer in the early 2000's and extends through his time at the Downtown Denver Partnership, where he served on the City of Denver's 2008 and 2012 Mayoral Housing Task Forces.Brian also served as a board member for the Golden Triangle Association from 2007-2016 during a critical time of the neighborhood's growth and development, which ultimately led to the creation of the Golden Triangle Partnership in 2016. Brian received his Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and earned his Master's of Business Administration in International Business from Regis University. Brian is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the International Downtown Association (IDA).

Brian Phetteplace worked in the Economic Development Division and served as the Senior Manager of Economic Development for the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP). He managed the LiveDowntownDenver (LDD) campaign, which promoted Downtown Denver and its center city neighborhoods as great places to live. He also managed the recruitment of new retailers, monitored development activity and assisted with prospective corporate relocations to Downtown. Additionally, Brian worked closely with the City and County of Denver, the Denver Office of Economic Development, the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, business leaders, retail brokers, developers, shopping center owners, hotel consultants, property owners and local/national/international retailers specializing in residential, retail and economic development related initiatives & projects affecting Downtown. Brian studied architecture and received his Bachelors Degree in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He received his Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in international business from Regis University. Prior to joining the Partnership Brian worked for the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) in both their Home Finance and Asset Management divisions. Brian is a native of Denver and currently lives in Capitol Hill. Brian is an Urban Land Institute (ULI) member, served on the Golden Triangle Association Board for several years and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
