The Department of Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison leads the nation in graduate medical physics education and research leading to discoveries and inventions. These faculty members, researchers, and staff are dedicated to advancing the science and application of medical physics in health care and education. With over 27 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, and conducting research in the fields of physics, biomedical engineering, radiology, and human oncology, with a focus on biomedical optics and imaging.Dr Pogue's specialties include Cherenkov and scintillation imaging, photodynamic therapy, fluorescence guided surgery, imaging systems in surgery and radiation therapy, molecular imaging, and cancer imaging and therapy. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed articles, and has had $50million in research funding as PI from the National Institutes of Health. He is a Fellow of the AIMBE, SPIE, AAPM, NAI & Optica. He is Editor in Chief of the Journal of Biomedical Optics, from SPIE publishing.
