My role within the town is to apply best business practices to town government. I moved from area to area to design and implement programs that would create cost avoidance, taxpayer savings, increased constituent satisfaction and worker productivity. My various roles analyzed 22 departments within the town and focused on needs of greatest potential improvement. Managed town wide development to the 2030 Land Use Plan. Partnered with engineering planners, consultants, civics organizations, staffers and committees to secure input, construct the framework for, write the plan, present, vet, review and approve. Implemented the SMART Method for Planning© methodology developed by BPratt & Company for effective land use planning development. The techniques have been adopted and used in planning.Streamline processes to obtain permits by builders, developers and individuals reducing processing time from months to weeks by introducing methods, software tools and employee training.

Responsible to develop and bring unique business level solutions to government by utilizing best practices integrated with technology and processes.Developed the first regional Town’s state-of-the-art Constituent Response System (CRS) Contact Center allowing residents to call just one number for all town and related services creating a single call resolution in most cases. Utilizing a centralized integrated system along with knowledge base, the contact center agent can handle multiple issues without routing the caller to multiple departments or the resident making multiple calls. This also streamlines staffing needs by using resources more effectively by bringing the knowledge to them at their fingertips. The system has resulted in lower operational costs, ability to offer more services and higher resident satisfaction.Research and developed request for proposals (RFPs) and vendor selection for new technologies including integration of GPS technology into a Fleet Management System, and computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Subsequent implementation has reduced fuel usage and resulting reduction in vehicle fleet size with better management of fleet operations as well as reduce material inventory through greater accountability.Advance standards/methods for creating standard operating procedures (SOPs). This process helps in optimizing work flow and provides clear direction on task/responsibilities. Increase worker productivity as well as consistency in process quality.Created the pilot program, training, marketing and launch of ServiceStat, a management methodology to foster accountability and speed resources by departments to identify and solve issues towards key performance indicators (KPIs) established by the town. This resulted in major cost savings in departments, increased responsiveness to constituents needs, and has created continuing benchmarks to measure by in promoting best practices.

Managed off-season personnel of 200, in-season staff of over 900. Reorganized supervisory staff and brought resources to bear to increase greater responsibility, cost controls. Worked with union shops to increase training, productivity and job satisfaction. Managed Budget of $15 million. Oversight of capital projects, historic building restoration, third party vendors, and over 200 parks, beaches & marinas, golf courses and amphitheater throughout Brookhaven.Created first comprehensive multi-year Parks Strategic Resource Management Plan for Brookhaven.Led team in revamping parks departmental operations and management. This included the creation of a warehouse/inventory management system, work order management system and greater controls on budget and revenue intake. Developed the first truly comprehensive electronic inventory Geographic Information System (GIS) of all parklands within Brookhaven. This led to the discovery of additional town properties not previously recorded as town property and properly maintained and placed within the parks jurisdiction.Created and developed the first ever comprehensive employee Field Operations Guidebook to help improve employee productivity, reduce safety related issues and increase training. Developed the Parks Inspection Program by developing a ratings system, and enacting on findings to increase overall cleanliness and quality of public park-lands.
