My Associate role here is to develop and provide training on Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) through out the UK as open courses and bespoke training opportunities. For twenty years Kate Cairns has been turning research and theory about trauma and attachment into knowledge that has changed lives – in fostering and residential care, in schools and in multi-agency teams.Now Kate Cairns Associates are able to take this applied knowledge and understanding and make it available through training and consultancy to enhance the practice of anyone who works with vulnerable people. This involved developing the Virtual School. In this role I have offered advice to the Department for Education (& previously the Department for Children, Schools and Families), OfSTED, The All Party Parliamentary Working Party on Looked After Children's Achievement, the National Institute of Clinical Excellence, the Fostering Network in England and Wales and the Who Cares Trust.
