• Consistently introduce industry-leading GPS navigation and communications products to market on time, on budget, with no significant production problems and high customer satisfaction• Lead mechanical design from concept to mass-production• Design, fabricate, test, and support production of a wide variety of parts including die castings, machined parts, sheet metal, and molded plastic parts with minimal supervision• Innovate and create new product categories for Garmin, such as vivosmart (a sleek, rugged, Bluetooth-enabled activity band with capacitive touchscreen and OLED display), wrist heart rate monitoring devices, the zūmo Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and the Xero Bow Sight with heads-up display and laser rangefinder. • Mentor and review designs for junior engineers• Design FAA certified aviation products (high-reliability navigation equipment) including weather RADAR and Attitude Heading Reference Systems• Design consumer electronics (nüvi, zūmo, and dēzl GPS products) including Garmin's first Cellular-network connected PND and first PND mount with integrated speaker• Design rugged outdoor and exercise products including dog tracking/training collars• Successfully met requirements for projects with annual production ranging from 500 to over 10 million units per year• Worked with OEM automotive and motorcycle customers• Developed expertise and trained others in vibration testing• Created Audio Working Group to bring together Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers to improve the sound quality and intelligibility of Garmin devices. Areas of focus include recorded sound quality for action cameras, speech prompts for nüvis, and speech recognition and Bluetooth hands-free• Received 7 utility patents and 6 design patents
