Drove innovative and creative solutions to business, communication, process and technical challenges. Merged existing administrative computing and web development teams to form the Enterprise Applications team, creating a single service point for the development, deployment, integration and support of enterprise information systems. Provided vision, guidance and direction to enhance team cohesiveness, timely and efficient completion of projects, and the campus community’s satisfaction with the information environment. Envisioned professional development opportunities which enhanced both individual growth and team technical competencies and redundancy. Worked with stakeholders to identify opportunities to apply existing and function-specific enterprise-class technologies to address program challenges and enhance the student experience, faculty scholarship and administrative effectiveness. Collaborated with CIO in setting the agenda for the Enterprise Systems Advisory Committee. Founded the University Data Stewards group to focus on institution-wide data consistency and integrity issues. Facilitated IT organization-wide culture initiative which developed vision and service values statements. Collaborated with the Chief Communications Officer and Director of Digital Communications to develop a comprehensive digital communications strategy. Served as member of the IT organization leadership team providing vision, leadership and direction to the entire IT organization. Developed and stewarded IT operating, capital and project budgets. Worked with stakeholders to identify strategic and operational priorities for the university’s information environment. Established standards, policies and procedures governing the university’s information environment and digital communications programs. Developed, implemented, and monitored project plans in close collaboration with internal and external project managers and stakeholders to ensure on-time and on-budget project completion.

Served as member of the IT organization leadership team. Provide vision and leadership to guide the university's strategic use of digital communications, including the communications effectiveness and overall marketing utility of the university website and related e-communications. Work with VP Enrollment Management/Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Marketing to ensure a creative and cohesive digital communications strategy that supports the university's marketing and communication goals. Play a lead role in conjunction with the VP for Integrated Technology Services in conceiving, championing and stewarding the vision for and implementation of Willamette’s “next generation” internal web presence and information access technologies. Chaired the Digital Communication Task Force. Rebuilt the Web Development team and oversaw it transition from the enrollment management division to the IT division. Implemented a web content management system and associated services that facilitated a several fold increase in content currency over 5 years ago. Managed several university or school-wide application implementations and rollouts.

Provided teaching, learning and technology strategic planning and implementation consulting services primarily to higher education clients. Special emphasis on web content management system selection and implementation, communication and administrative information system development, information services unit organizational culture development.

Served as a key member of a Bucknell's merged IT and library organization's (ISR) administrative and senior leadership team and functioned as the university’s chief technology officer. Played a leading role in ISR's strategic planning for Bucknell’s information environment and strategic planning for the campus as a whole. Held responsibility for the effective utilization and responsible allocation of the resources provided to ISR ($3.2 million annual IT capital budget, $5.4 million annual ISR operating budget, staff resources, facilities) and worked to maximize their use in service to the academic mission, administrative functions and the student experience. Assumed primary responsibility for the IT capital budgets that supported all university functions. Provided leadership, support, coaching and guidance for ISR staff members in all phases of their relationships with ISR (including hiring, salary decisions, professional development, growth and issues concerning retention). Directly responsible for the Systems Integration, Technical Operations, Database Integration Team (DBIT), Learning Spaces, Instructional Technology Enhancing the Curriculum (ITEC), Phone and Web Development teams (34 technical staff). Responsible for ISR’s master plan for integrating technology resources into the life of the campus community. Played a leadership role in ISR’s advisory committees: the Committee on Academic Computing (CAC), the University Library Committee (ULC), the Administrative Computing Committee (ACC) and the Web Leadership Team (WLT). Served as the ISR liaison to those groups. Actively encouraged and built leadership qualities in other members of the staff and in members of the larger campus community. Provided leadership in defining the relationship with and agenda for CAC, ACC and WLT. Actively supported and worked to enhance the “joint covenant for success” with the Engineering Computing Support Team (ECST)

Used facilitative leadership to enable a team of 14 faculty to implement an NSF-funded multi-year project to develop a model of systemic engineering education reform around the use of faculty teamwork, collaborative learning, instructional design and instructional technology. Consulted with faculty from across campus on courseware and course revision projects. Oversaw a weekly teaching workshop series for faculty. Assisted faculty in establishing a college of engineering faculty mentoring program. Met weekly with Project Catalyst faculty to discuss issues related to teaching, learning, and education reform.

Led a team of IT professionals who support all aspects of computing in the college of engineering and a variety of services for the campus community. These services include: supporting over 300 lab and teaching facility computers (Windows, Unix, Linux, Macintosh); coordinating desktop support for faculty and staff; campus-wide Linux support, Unix login and compute services; classroom and teaching labs, and the college of engineering’s courseware development studio. Managed operational and capital IT budgets, conducted performance evaluations, ensured the coordination of services with ISR.
