Provide guidance, direction, and elbow grease for projects relating to metrics, logging, and other real-time observability problems:- Implementing views and controls on all stages of our global logging pipeline, allowing us to control how we degrade in adverse conditions- Automating all the things, allowing us to manage multiple large projects with a very lean team- Planning and iterating on current and next-gen monitoring/metrics systems to insure low friction migration- Building fault-tolerance, redundancy, and low-dependency backstops into our systems which allow baseline observability even in the event to a full site outage- Minimizing build out time for new datacenters or pods

Highlights include: - Building a log centralization platform to make engineer's lives better (ELK, fluentd) - Building a metric collection, visualization, and alerting infrastructure to make failures shorter (TICK stack, grafana) - Building a global data transit to make datacenters more connected (kafka) - Building and running our in-house and 3rd party services (docker, nomad) - Connecting applications, infrastructure, and automation (vault, consul, kafka) - Triaging and maintaining core infrastructure to keep the company running (Elastic Search, Redis, Memcached, etc) - Investing in automation to make all of these things possible (Chef, terraform, python, golang)
