Brian developed, implemented and managed a distressed debt investment agenda within this private equity ($4 billion AUM) purchasing performing, non-performing, distressed and defaulted commercial obligations & portfolios (including bank loans, commercial mortgages, asset based loans, equipment leases, SBA unguaranteed loan positions, etc.). Ultimately he invested over $1 billion purchasing over 60 portfolios of commercial loans totaling over $2.5 billion. His responsibilities included complete diligence and assessment of risk & collateral concerns on investments opportunities including review of documents, business and financial condition, credit capacity, asset assessment & collateral valuation, cash flow projections and exit strategy/alternatives. To accomplish this task he built an in-house team to source, diligence, underwrite, administer, service, workout & realize loan/portfolio investments to above market return. Additionally, he established and manage relationships with key service providers, attorneys, auditors, investment sales brokers, property managers, receivers and investment partners.

Brian worked in the Principal Finance Group within Lehman Brothers. He was responsible for asset / portfolio management of defaulted and distressed principal positions (loans, equipment finance, franchise finance, esoteric receivables and securitization residuals). He managed collection, workout, litigation, and recovery phases of these legacy positions including managing third party service providers and consultants, and direct workout, restructuring and liquidation of high profile, large dollar, litigious, or bankrupt obligations. His responsibilities included overseeing diligence teams for principal investments opportunities (distressed debt obligations and defaulted equipment lease portfolios). In addition, Brian originated new business with private equity/hedge funds and participated in M&A, distressed debt and refinance opportunities of senior, mezzanine, and subordinated debt opportunities and equity participations. This included expanding groups’ role through advisory engagements and/or lead diligence teams with opportunities in debt participations, securitization & principal investments.

Brian managed the Asset Recovery and Liquidation Group within CIT's Small Business Lending Corporation. His team was responsible for servicing, collection, workout, and liquidation of a $1.5 billion debt portfolio including franchise finance, middle market SBA loans, conventional real estate, and equipment loans and leases.

Brian was a Assistant Vice President and Relationship Manager responsible for new business development, origination and management of commercial real estate portfolio consisting of income producing investment properties, owner occupied properties and construction loans.

Brian was a Real Estate Loan Workout Officer for First Fidelity Bank, the largest NJ bank. Prior to being assigned as a loan workout officer, Brian completed First Fidelity's Professional Banker Program (Credit Training), and was a Officer within the Operations Division as a Department Head (Exceptions Processing and Dormant Control). He also completed the bank's formal Management Training Program.
