East Africa
Joined Renewvia in October 2017 to help pilot, prove and scale up the development of rooftop and ground-mounted solar photovoltaic off-grid and/or hybrid microgrids in Kenya. A skilled electrical engineer with extensive experience in procurement, design and supervision of electrical power engineering projects from concept to commissioning, he conducts feasibility studies, prepares technical and commercial proposals for solar facilities and ensures compliance with all solar statutory requirements. In addition, Brian analyzes total energy demand and supply patterns of existing plants and handles technical queries from Renewvia’s growing base of customers in remote communities. He also advises on the design, general arrangement layouts and other electrical engineering requirements for Renewvia’s pipeline projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa.Prior to Renewvia, I was Project Director with the Power Division of Bitlink Company Limited (2013-2017), an Electrical and ICT company based in Nairobi, where he oversaw the design, construction and commissioning of standalone and grid-tied solar power systems, backup water pumps and water heaters and conventional and solar street lights. During this time, I also constructed and commissioned low voltage power distribution networks, along with 11 KV and 33 KV power transmission lines and metering systems, as a Labor and Transport Contractor for Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC). I am a T3-certified technician by the Energy Regulatory Commission, a graduate engineer registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (2012).
