Design team of 14 engineers was challenged to create a single seater off road racer to compete later that year in the Oshkosh competition. In the team I was the lead of the suspension subgroup to manage and lead a 5-member engineering team to design and optimize the suspension in all aspects, geometry, design, integration, and strength. Met and conversed with other subgroup leads about designs and integration of the entire system.• Optimized design and materials to work within a budget of $10,000 for materials.• An initial design was based on research and the competitions rule book created with the use of CAD software, a prototype was created for each subdivision testing initial concepts viability as using finite element analysis and optimization with MATLAB before starting the final building process.• Results scored off 5 events: Design, Acceleration, Maneuverability, Sled Pull, Suspension, Endurance.• Team reached overall score of top 50th percentile with 38th out of 78th. In the events Design and Acceleration reached top 44th percentile with a top speed of 35mph. Maneuverability placed top 27th percent, Sled Pull placed top 20th percent, Suspension placed top 25th percent, and Endurance placed top 52nd percent.
