Brian performed his military service with the South African Airforce in 1975. He completed his articles of clerkship to the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (SA) while in the employment of Pim, Whitely and Close (now Deloitte). Brian worked as a Bakery Accountant for three bakeries in the Eastern Transvaal while employed by Fedbake, a division of Federale Volks Beleggings. Brian found employment with Nissan South Africa as a Trainee Financial Analyst. He remained with Nissan in various financial positions until he returned to the auditing profession as an Internal Auditor in 1984, and was promoted to EDP Auditor in 1986.In 1990 Brian accepted the position of IT Audit Executive with the OK Bazaars and in 1991 Brian became the systems Audit Executive and finally in 1995 became the head of the Internal Audit Department. In November 1997 with the Shoprite takeover of the OK Bazaars, Brian was offered a position in Cape Town at their head office, which he declined.Simultaneously, he was offered a position as Group Internal Audit Manager with the Bidvest Group Limited and he commenced service there in January 1998. In this position Brian has had to develop a Group Internal Audit methodology that integrated Risk Management and Internal Audit and to structure this in the twelve divisions to mirror the Group structure. The department offers business-consulting reviews as well as the traditional financial substantive and processed based compliance audits and also performs forensic, risk, governance and legal compliance reviews.In October 2011 Brian commenced a new phase of his life as he left the corporate world with a desire to provide mentoring and training to junior Internal Audit Managers on their way up the ladder. In January 2012 Brian decided to also expand the Accounting business started in 1996, as a partner to his sister, to provide Management Consulting, Internal Audit and Risk Management services to small businesses.
