• Main focus of the role to manage all day to day quarry operations in collaboration with the location manager• Carrying out efficiency monitoring for all processes, ensuring operations are as lean and cost-effective as possible• Leading staff teams to ensure both individual and team targets are met to facilitate profitable business growth • Scheduling preventative maintenance for the whole plant, balancing safety levels with expenditure requirements at all times• Responsible for the on-going monitoring of all quarry health and safety issues at the location ensuring stringent standards are met• Managing stock levels - both product and critical spares, to meet with current production needs and ensuring appropriate levels are maintained • Working closely with the senior management team on a constant basis, completing monthly location statistical and MaPS reports• Responsible for monitoring of product quality in all areas, identifying issues and preparing solutions to ensure compliance• Utilising an in-depth knowledge of all relevant aspects of internal policies and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IS0 16001 and ISO 18001 requirements• Accountable for location compliancy in relation to environmental legislation and addressing issues appropriately

Galway

Planning & scheduling all quarry stone production & logistics, daily management of quarry personnel, ownership for health & safety, environmental, quality and maintenance issues.Also responsible for timely completion of monthly statistical reports, Oracle/Cognos reporting and SOX compliance.Key Responsibilities:• Ongoing monitoring of all quarry health and safety issues• Planning and Scheduling stone production• Preventative maintenance scheduling on all plant• Managing stock levels, both product and critical spares through effective use of kanbans• Supporting all blasting operations, including marking drill holes, wiring and monitoring• Ensuring agreed company targets are achieved in all areas

Galway/Castlemine

Managing and working on a number of development projects at both our Galway and Castlemine locations. These included a new RMC/Block plant, a new ground-limestone plant, bin-extension to batching plant, construction of new settlement lagoon and various water system projects. I was also involved in all the daily quarry and clerical operations at both locations, ranging from drilling and blasting to leading the implementation of the Castlemine SOX filing system. During this time I gained an excellent knowledge of quarry operations, clerical systems and procedures, and became very familiar with many of the quarry regulatory requirements, including Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental regulations.

Galway

During this time, I was responsible for sampling and testing all products and material in Castlemine, in accordance with ISO 9001. This provided me with an excellent insight and knowledge of the various products manufactured by Roadstone, the standards required by our customers, and the various processes involved in meeting these requirements. I was also involved in daily quarry operations, including blasting, environmental conformity, production, and co-ordinating health & safety meetings.

Hennelly’s are a utilities company with a long-term contract with British Telecom, based in the Thames Valley. During my time there, my main duties were assessment, drawing, valuation and application of all works completed by the company. Various tasks included liaising with site agents, schedulers, quantity surveyors and providing detailed progress reports to the project manager on a regular basis.

Galway

I worked for five months in our Galway location on a professional experience programme as part of my engineering degree course. During this time, I gained experience in production control in both blocks and stone and assisted with blasting on a weekly basis. I was given responsibility for an environmental project which included a change to traffic routes in the quarry, purchase of various quarry safety equipment, removal of waste material from the quarry and a procedure to control returned materials (e.g.: concrete and blacktop).
