Brian Steel Email and Phone Number
I have been fortunate enough to have worked with many professional people in the Oil & Gas industry over the last thirty odd years with whom I have managed to acquire knowledge , experience & ethics from which has aided me to be the type of person I am. I have worked in other areas of the Oil & Gas industry from yard based project scopes to installation & final commissioning offshore. I have mainly held positions in the Electrical side of things as that is my background trade. I have worked my way up in the traditional manner being a tradesman and observing the people who managed me, to developing my own management skills by learning from the people who I judge to be more professional & capable. The positions I have held over the 20 odd years have been varied & demand certain skills which I have learned or accumulated over the years. My goals are mainly to keep myself working and providing for the people I love & if that means learning new skills & developing in a different direction then I will adapt to suit the requirements. I don't like to stick in the same position but like to aim for positions I think better suit the type of skills I have. I will push myself to learn new skills to adapt to the tasks I have been given.Specialties: I would like to think I am organised and thorough. I would also like to think I am a good manager of people & understand how people behave the way they do to be able to judge their abilities. I am good at working with new technologies & embrace new technology in industry. I would like to think I am very good with my use of computers to enable me to make my work easy by using the proper application to plan and report. I believe that Quality and Efficiency is key to good business.

I also carry out Worksite inspections as the projects progress to monitor standards and quality. -
Electrical & Instrument SupervisorAmec Sep 2010 - Sep 2019As E&I supervisor at AMEC I led a team of Electrical Foreman and Technicians in the Construction of various projects during a very successful 2010/11 BG Armada Campaign. -
Lead Certification EngineerAker Solutions Apr 2012 - PresentAberdeen, United KingdomMy duties as Lead Certification Engineer include attending all meetings involved in the Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning of the project. I then relay to the team the priorities of the project. As well as leading the team I have to co-ordinate and organise the CTR's and track hours. This also involves applying for Change Requests. As Senior Certification Engineer, I work as part of a team of Certification Engineers who are not confined to a particular project or client but share the workload between the team which means we all have knowledge of the projects as they progress and we can help each other out due to our different trade backgrounds. I am, at the moment, working with the GoCompletions Database system which is quite new to the team and I am working on a new project but all members of the team have been trained on the system and can jump in anytime and know at which stage the development of the database is at. The project I am on at the moment is the Solan project which is in its infancy and We started the GoCCMS Database from scratch. As the project progresses more of the team will be involved in maintaining the certification database. GoCCMS is all about maintaining the integrity of a project as it progresses and can be interrogated at any time to produce an accurate picture of the Mechanical Completion and Commissioning status of the project right up to handover, this includes generating custom reports to suit the project. -
