Started in 1951, by Daniel E Taylor, founder of West Indies Fruit and Steamship Company, the organization supports healthcare and other charitable organizations in the Southeast United States. Universal Engineering Sciences, through its ownership of specialty brands in the field of infrastructure services is one of the largest providers of Construction Materials Testing, Environmental Engineering, Construction QA/QC and Building Code Compliance Services in the United States. The firm currently has approximately 75 offices with over 3,700 highly skilled professionals with offices in 23 states.

Brought on growth capital to grow the firm via acquisitions and expand internationally (Middle East, UK & Europe, and Southeast Asia), completed several acquisitions and led the February 2019 recapitalization of the business to Wind Point Partners (Chicago based private equity firm)

Mr. Kirkpatrick was Capital Guardian’s Chief Investment Officer responsible with the firm’s investment strategy and capital markets outlook for the $3.5 billion of AUA/AUM. He was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and published the firm’s investment direction and best thinking in the quarterly Investment Strategy and Capital Markets Outlook. Mr. Kirkpatrick was also President of Capital Guardian Asset Management, a $300M AUM SEC registered investment advisor headquartered in New York, NY and West Palm Beach, FL and President of Capital Guardian Funds Trust. Prior to joining Capital Guardian, Mr. Kirkpatrick was Senior Vice President and Director in the wealth management group of a national trust company. Mr. Kirkpatrick oversaw the firm's $300M internal investment capabilities including research, investment strategy, trading, operations and execution. He was a voting member of the firms Investment Committee and was the Chairman of the Core Investment Committee. Mr. Kirkpatrick co-managed the firm's daily investment meeting, where he specialized in macroeconomic analysis and equity investments. Mr. Kirkpatrick was previously a Portfolio Manager and Equity Analyst for a $1.4 billion registered investment advisor. Earlier career positions include Head Equity Trader and Market Maker. Mr. Kirkpatrick began his career as a proprietary equity trader and held Series 7, 55 and 63 FINRA licenses. He received an MBA with a specialization in International Business from The University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Warrington School of Business at the University of Florida.Mr. Kirkpatrick is involved with a number of community organizations. Brian is also involved with his family's charitable organization, The Taylor Foundation, which supports schools, local charities, and other causes.
