This position is the senior non-physician administrator and chief operating officer, reporting jointly to the Executive Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Executive Director of Rush University Hospital. Rush University Medical Center is a 501c3 private not-for-profit academic medical center with the following major operations: Rush University Hospital an “open faculty staff model” with a licensed bed count of 896 beds including the Johnson R. Bowman Health Center for the Elderly; Rush Oak Park Hospital a 296 licensed bed acute care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing hospital; Rush University – a health sciences university includes Rush Medical College, the College of Nursing, the College of Health Sciences and the Graduate College; and the Rush University Medical Group. This position is the senior non-physician administrator and chief operating officer, reporting jointly to the Executive Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Executive Director of Rush University Hospital; and the Provost of Rush University who is the Dean of Rush Medical College, and the Executive Committee of the faculty practice plan. The faculty practice plan, “a virtual foundation”, is comprised of 28 clinical departments with 500 employed physicians and annual revenues of $250 million. The primary responsibility of the Executive Director is to participate in senior management of the academic medical center, representing the employed physicians and the coordination of the strategic, business and clinical operations (ambulatory and hospital based services) of the practice plan with the private practice faculty physicians and balance the other missions of the medical center: education and research.
