I am responsible for a highly motivated team that drives continuous improvement for the Bulk Power System. We provide assist visits and other services to enhance the reliability, resiliency, and security of the grid, tackling risks within and beyond the O&P and CIP NERC reliability standards.

As Manager of the Operations & Planning Compliance Monitoring Department, I am responsible for preserving and enhancing the reliability and resiliency of the Bulk Power System by leading the audit team. The audit teams assesses the registered entity's evidence and internal controls for reasonable assurance that risks to the grid have been mitigated.

I collaborate with industry to analyze events that occur on the Bulk Electric System. Using our Situational Awareness tools, I help monitor the risks and threats to the grid. I communicate not only risks but also best practices through lessons learned documents and additional outreach to industry.

I am a senior technical auditor at ReliabilityFirst. I have led and scribed operations and planning audits where I monitor entities to ensure they are operating in a reliable manner and adhering to the NERC standards. When I am not in an audit, I perform compliance assessment where I review system events for reliability and compliance concerns. Finally, I am involved with enhancing the tools and technology used by auditors. I have introduced MKInsight to many entities to help them more effectively communicate with ReliabilityFirst.

I worked at FirstEnergyCorp from 2003-2014. I started of in design (both substation and transmission design) and also in EDPP (Energy Delivery Planning and Protection). In 2007, I received a new position at the system control center where I worked mostly in outage coordination. In 2011, I became the Supervisor of Outage Coordination.My team and I scheduled outages (clearance controls / hold orders) and other switching controls (in-service relay work / hold offs / non-reclose) for the Transmission System Operators at FirstEnergyCorp's System Control Center. We scheduled the jobs with our transmission operator PJM, made notifications, ran contingency analysis, and then wrote the switching steps (the lock out-tag out procedure). These controls were reviewed and provided for both the operating company (substation or line department) and for the TSO (Transmission System Operators) one week in advance. We performed future studies as well using the outage scheduler tool in AREVA's EMS system to look for overloads, low voltage, and conflicts. We determined switching solutions to mitigate contingencies and dealt directly with PJM regarding the outages on the bulk electric system. I led my team by example and never asked them to do anything that I did not use to do as an outage coordinator myself. I developed personal relationships with not only my team, but also with my customers that include both the operating company personnel (line and substation department) and the control room personnel (both shift supervisors and the TSOs). I provided support to my manager regarding budgets for upcoming future work and also for event / incident investigations including root cause analysis.
