My role is to connect with industry and government to help them solve their most critical engineering challenges. This includes helping to develop, demonstrate and deploy the best available technologies. We work in upstream well design and operation and in midstream pipeline design, operation and integrity management.Our primary strategic push is to build on our expertise in hydrogen and carbon dioxide transportation in pipelines including underground storage. We are building unique full-scale testing systems for line pipe and OCTG that will allow us to simulate a broad range of pipeline and underground storage environments at full-scale.We are also supporting work in the nuclear industry in waste management and in new Small Modular Reactors.Our work in renewables has focused on geothermal where we are applying our expertise in thermal well design for in situ oil sands production to improve the performance ofenhanced geothermal wells and artificial lift systems.

Supervised a team of engineers providing analysis and testing services to the oil and gas industry, focus areas included:- performance of premium casing connections in thermal wells- analysis of well deformations in various applications

Studied the factors that influence the rate of sand production in cold heavy oil production operations in Western Canada. Included collecting field information, developing new methods for cleaning sand from field tanks, utilizing produced sand as an industrial feed stock, using gathering lines instead of field tanks.Developed testing programs for progressing cavity pumping systems in heavy oil applications.Evaluated the risk associated with gas storage caverns including assessing the probability of failure of the wellhead, wellbore and cavern during normal operation. Also evaluated the consequences of uncontrolled releases to near surface aquifers and to the atmosphere.Used multi-finger caliper data to evaluate the deformation of well casing and tubing in a range of applications including: thermal wells in Canada, subsiding reservoirs in the North Sea, active tectonic faults in California, shallow water flow zones in the Gulf of Mexico, salt caverns in Texas, sand producing reservoirs in Alberta and Alaska.

Served on the committee developing a new standard for progressing cavity pumping system pumps and surface drive units. Responsible for capturing discussions in committee meetings and transposing this information into the working document.
