I am the Department Manager for the Design Review and Technical Services Department within the Project Management Division in Doha, Qatar, and in that role I manage the Team of Professional Architects, Structural Engineers, MEP Engineers & Infrastructure Engineers in undertaking due-diligence and independent 3rd party technical reviews and validations of designs from Concept, through multiple design stages to Construction and Handover. I am responsible for all disciplines and the final Review Report Submission. Reviews are undertaken on KEO designs, as well as for external Clients on designs produced by other Design / Consulting firms.Using the experience gained in previous roles I have been developing the reporting structure, in particular for in-house designs, where a process of identifying the key aspects to report on, such as Constructability, Co-ordination and Compliance with Standards or Codes, then addressing the ‘Lessons Learned’ with the design teams has improved design quality. Although based in the Doha office, I review projects across the Middle East Region and as such have to be conversant with not just the more widely used and familiar International Standards and Codes such as BSEN or NFPA, but also with the local codes and requirements of individual Country or States, including their respective Civil Defence and Ministry of Interior requirements.

I was the MEP Engineering Design Manager for a team of Engineers and BIM/Revit/CAD Technicians producing detailed services designs for projects within the UK and Asia regions. These projects being in the commercial, retail, residential, transportation and healthcare market sectors. I have been able to utilise the experience and knowledge gained through working previously for some of the top International Consultancies to provide both the technical support and Client liaison necessary.I provided training to keep the Engineers and Technical Staff up-to-date with current technical requirements and standards as well as develop the quality procedures to meet the expectations of the Clients and instigate the implementation of a thorough auditing process to maintain quality levels.In addition, I have also been brought in to provide support for the team on a large casino within Macau, utilising my experience with large-scale projects and remote office production management to guide and assist the team were necessary.

I was the Lead Electrical Engineer at the KEO Design Division Head Quarters in Kuwait, managing a team of Design Engineers and BIM/Revit Technicians, using my many years of experience within the MEP Design and Construction Industry to build and develop their capabilities through undertaking a number of projects within the Gulf Region and North Africa. In addition, and utilizing my experience in the Global market, I provided guidance to the other service disciplines in delivering a unified and co-ordinated MEP package.Although based in the Kuwait office, my scope was to lead the team in undertaking the designs & successful delivery of prestige/key projects throughout the Middle East, whether successfully bid by the Kuwait office or one of the other offices in the region. My International knowledge and understanding of ‘remote design office’ working and being readily adaptable to the different Country Codes and Standards proving a significant advantage, as is my firm belief in providing an exceptional level of quality through good QA/QC procedures and standards.In addition, with my Client-facing experience and capability to appreciate their needs and requirements I was able to convey this to the project teams and achieve successful completion.

My position was as Senior Engineering Consultant with the remit to develop the Engineering team in North Queensland, Australia and that of the WSP’s Philippine Global Design Centre to ensure its productivity and usefulness to the business as a whole. Working closely with the Office Director I managed the designs on a number of projects, but also to bring on the training of junior members of the team as well as arrange the work production by the Philippine Global Design Centre to successfully bring on their development and understanding of designs compliant with Australian Standards and Building Codes.With my Global knowledge and experience within the industry of delivering projects for both internal and external Clients, along with many years managing designs and projects World-wide, I am able to affect a close synergy between the Clients requirements and the deliverable achieved by myself and from the Design Engineers.

My position was as a Senior Project Manager, delivering many facets of the Qatar Education City Project, including development of a 800MVA HV Electrical Infrastructure network of 14No 40MVA and 60MVA Electrical Distribution Centres and 4No new 40,000 Tonne Chilled Water Plants; a LV Infrastructure network for street/landscape lighting and irrigation; 3No 500+ space car parking structures with integral rapid-transit Light-rail stations.In addition, I developed the design for the Electrical package on a new District Cooling Facility serving Central Doha, including a 150 bay public car park & co-ordination with a proposed underground rail station for the proposed Cross-Doha Rail Link. My prior experience within the industry coupled with the familiarity and previous close working relationship I had with the Design Team Members in the Philippine Global Design Centre, I was able to avoid the potential problems occurring when developing new working relationships.

I was the Buildings Services-Section Manager at SKM’s Philippine Global Design Centre, responsible for managing their teams of MEP Project Managers, Engineers and Revit/CAD Technicians in projects across Australia, Asia and the UK. These being in healthcare, education, commercial, rail, mining and gas storage/distribution. My duties also encompassed the daily management of the Structural Engineering Team for the Philippines.Utilizing the many years of experience I have within the Building Services industry, I provided the mentoring and technical training required to keep the Project Managers and Engineers conversant with the requirements and standards used within Australia. I also instructed and guided the teams in their designs, undertook quality reviews, advised and managed them on matters of productivity/cost, and provided Client liaison.

I have been Project Manager on a diverse portfolio of projects across market sectors such as commercial, retail, residential, infrastructure and transportation, where I instruct and guide the engineering teams in their designs, undertake quality reviews, manage the project productivity / cost, and provide Client and Design Team liaison.In addition I provided technical support and training for the Engineers with the requirements, standards and ‘best practices’ in force within the Gulf States and Emirates. I also updated and maintained the quality procedures to meet the level and expectations of the Clients.As a result of the Global Economic Crisis my contract was not renewed.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer undertaking installation design, specification and Project Management roles for a variety of project types from commercial, residential, Health Authority and UK Ministry of Defence Sectors. Lead Engineer in many instances, overseeing the general running of the projects encompassing all the Electrical, Mechanical and Hydraulic Services, being responsible for resource and financial profitability.Also undertook design and installation 'Due-diligence' audits, producing reports for legal cases concerning standards of workmanship and non-compliance with the appropriate British and European Standards and Codes of Practice.

Responsible for Local & Regional Governmental Authorities, along with various national companies and organisations.Although position was forced upon me by earlier redundancy, it proved an opportunity to enhance my communication skills with clients before moving back into Services Engineering.

Also assisted in the estimation of installations and progress meetings for projects already under way.My position became redundant, thus cutting short my time here.
