I am a clinical faculty member and Simulation Specialist for the Parry Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation of the University of South Dakota, Sanford School of Medicine. I am also a member of the Board of Directors for SimGHOSTS, Gather of Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist. I manage simulation technicians and equipment and organize the setup, break down and supplies in the skills lab and the simulation areas. My responsibilities also include teaching non-emergent and emergent clinical skills to medical students along with ACLS and BLS. I manage the simulation learning management system and much of the technical aspect of the center. I manage simulation equipment maintenance, testing and complete scenarios with faculty instructors. I assist with curriculum development, conducting simulations outside of the simulation lab and maintaining proficiency in emerging simulation technology.I received my paramedic certificate from the Avera McKennan School of EMS. I have been involved in healthcare and healthcare education for more than 24 years, and have worked for several EMS agencies in the midwest, most recently as a flight paramedic for Sanford USD Medical Center as a member of the pediatric, obstetrics and adult critical care teams. It is exciting to combine my medical knowledge and the effective use of simulation to improve patient safety and outcomes.
