This involved the synthesis of a generic cross-linking node, capable of transforming solution-processed organic semiconducting materials into solvent resistant and mechanically tough layers. Additionally, the development of a cross-linkable fullerene molecule for the creation of solvent resistant, n-type layers, and the development of a new perovskite solar cell design, the Compound Solar Cell, enabling the creation of a solution-processed solar cell exhibiting mechanical toughness exceeding those of Silicon and CIGS devices.
