I am a highly qualified, motivated, and dynamic Community Learning & Development Worker with several high-level managerial and leadership positions over 27 years in a variety of locations across Scotland and in several settings including Higher Education, Third Sector, Charities, Local Councils and National Organisations.Since completing my degree, in 1996, it has always been important to me to work in a roles that supports the development of young people and see them maximise their potential as far as possible. To that end, my career path has consistently been linked to supporting young people to be safe and protected or offering opportunities that open doors to an improved life. I feel incredibly passionate about being involved in supporting young people to make life-changing decisions.

I worked alongside the SHMU Chief Executive and SHMU board in order to develop and manage the strategic and operational aspects of SHMU and the shmuTRAIN Employability strand.The strand included the following projects; Early Interventions School-based work which targeted pupils in the senior phase at local academies. The project worked with pupils who have been identified by the school as not progressing onto a positive destination after leaving school. Up to there date I left had guided my team to engage with 241 pupils and successfully move 209 onto positive destinations (87%) of Education, Employment and training.The other project was Positive Transitions which targets 16-19-year-olds with a 12-week full-time employability programme using digital media to engage young people and develop the key employability skills employers are looking for. I guided the team to successfully engage with 207 trainees with 163 moving onto positive destinations (79%). shmuTRAIN also engaged with LAC young people across the city and within HMP Grampian.I also managed the Activity Agreement offer for City and Shire.I was responsible for the strategic development of the initiative at both a local and national level including reporting to our main funders on targets, outcomes and finances; management of the shmuTRAIN staff team; overseeing the shmuTRAIN budget; reporting on programme and liaising with external agencies and partners.Within SHMU I was also the SQA coordinator for the building, and developed 5 SQA awards, I was also the Lead Health and Safety and Fire officer of the building and the Designated Child protection officer. I also delivered new staff members’ induction programmes.Alongside staff management of my own team I also supervise 4 additional staff members from different strands within SHMU. I was also responsible for our external SQA provision where I offer face to face training and support to projects across the Scotland and England.
