My journey into the work force began in the medical field. When I was in high school I always thought that I wanted to be a Physical Therapist. I wanted to do something that would help people. Over the course of my time in this field, I gained knowledge and skills by working in janitorial setting, nursing home setting, and ended with physical therapy. Even though my certification lapsed, I was a licensed CNA at one point and learned how to work with the elderly who were unable to care for themselves. Part of my job was doing computer work on keeping up with activities done with the patient and any care that was provided. When I left the medical field I ended with Physical Therapy where I learned proper exercises for certain injuries/surgeries, how to work with whirlpool/swimming pool therapies, and cold/hot pack therapy as well. I also dealt with calling patients and setting up appointments and making sure insurance was filed correctly. This also taught me that Physical Therapy was not the career I wished to pursue. This information is not listed on my resume because that was more than 10 years ago. I have customer service experience, both restaurant and retail. I've gained even more knowledge in a completely different field by working in a cabinet manufacturing setting. Not only have I learned how to thrive in a new environment, but I gained a completely new customer base. I am a hard worker, fast learner, and I am eager to help companies and people. Do not let my lack of certain experiences stop a possible great opportunity.
