Working as a Prep Cook, I prepare the front of house to be ready for guests to enjoy as well as maintain a satisfactory level of cleanliness. I also assist the head chef in food preparation by utilizing cutting equipment, gathering ingredients for a recipe and finally cooking them on a griddle or in the oven. After the meal has been served, I do the dishes with an industrial dishwasher and ensure that they are clean before being put away. Finally, I coordinate with a team of workers to clean all other surfaces to be ready for the next meal.

In this role, I handled resident concerns and maintained the safety of over 400 residents in a rotating weekend schedule along with weekly office hours. This position included extensive knowledge of rules and safety standards to comply with state and federal regulations on fire safety. This included being comfortable with the University at Albany, SUNY rules and regulations in order to keep my residents safe. In addition to health and safety, I worked on a team to design and build a program targeting 100+ residents to foster an engaging community.
