Recruited to a 9 month contract to provide extra HSEQ resource for a large 80 dwelling de-mountable home contract for a Rio Tinto campsite in Wickham, Initially fulfilling this role but asked to become more involved in Quality encompassing a substantial MDR data collection and compilation and also to ensure all quality systems are being followed.More recently also asked to act as the last link in the yard construction and handover process with the client’s senior representatives.As… Show more Recruited to a 9 month contract to provide extra HSEQ resource for a large 80 dwelling de-mountable home contract for a Rio Tinto campsite in Wickham, Initially fulfilling this role but asked to become more involved in Quality encompassing a substantial MDR data collection and compilation and also to ensure all quality systems are being followed.More recently also asked to act as the last link in the yard construction and handover process with the client’s senior representatives.As this is a time critical fast paced project, I have the responsibility of completing final handover inspections conducted with Rio Tinto’s staff to extremely tight timelines before delivery to site.Houses are punch listed with the client and my role is to then plan all trades to ensure the relevant requested remedial work is actioned so that a quality end product is prepared and delivered to site.As the onsite costs of any remediation are far greater than yard costs due to the remote location, it is essential that the product can withstand travel and arrives on site for complexing by our teams with the minimum amount of unintended extra work.To date we have delivered over 55 houses to site and Rio Tinto are delighted with performance and quality.McGrath Homes has a substantial reputation for a quality product within the industry and this has led Rio Tinto to award us a further 20 dwellings following the initially contracted 60 dwellings. I utilized several Lean Six Sigma analysis tools to enable these improvements.At time of leaving the business unit had achieved over 900 days LTI and the divisional TRIFR for Precast was ZERO at the end of 2012 and this in an environment containing many high risk activities where there were regularly lifts and movement of products well in excess of 20 tonnes.My analysis and focus on taking over the role has enabled us to reduce total incidents by almost 50% in 2010-2011 and a further 50% in 2011-2012.
